Pori – Kankaanpää tien nro 23 varrella oleva Isosuo Pomarkussa on mielenkiintoinen neva vierailla katsomassa lintuja. 20.7.2022 vierailin siellä ensimmäistä kertaa ja yllätyin positiivisesti.

Kun parkkipaikalta, joka on vain 100 metriä valtatieltä, lähdetään kävelemään, niin alku on metsäistä ja siellä täällä on lyhyitä pitkospuita.

Along the Pori – Kankaanpää road no. 23 situated Isoneva in Pomarkku is an interesting swamp to visit to watch the birds. On July 20, 2022, I visited there for the first time and was positively surprised. When you start walking from the parking lot, which is only 100 meters from the highway, the beginning is forested and there are short duckboards here and there.

Mutta vain hetken kävelyn jälkeen alkaa varsinainen Isosuo ja voit valita lähdetkö lintutornille kohti Kaakkurilampea vai kierrätkö lyhyemmän lenkin takaisin parkkipaikalle (vasemmalle).

But after only a short walk, the real Isosuo begins and you can choose whether to go to the bird tower towards Kaakkurilampi or to take a shorter loop back to the parking lot (left).

Lähdin oikealle kohti Kaakkurilampia ja matkalla olet todellakin avoimella suolla.

I started to the right towards Kaakkurilampi and on the way you are really in an open swamp.

Käveltyäni vasta pari sataa metriä kuulin takaani lentävän linnun ääniä ja katsoin ylöspäin, jolloin näin ohi lentävän kaakkurin.

After walking only a couple of hundred meters, I heard the sounds of a bird flying behind me and I looked up to see a Red-throated diver flying by.

Avonaisen ylityksen jälkeen tulin metsäiselle paikalle ja sen jälkeen alkoi taas avosuo. Nyt myös lintutorni tuli näkyviin.

After crossing the open area, I came to a wooded place and after that the open swamp started again. Now the bird tower also came into view.

Kiipesin torniin ja on sieltä upeat näköalat lähiympäristöön.

I climbed the tower and there are wonderful views of the surrounding area.

Mikä vielä hienompaa kahdessa lähipuussa istui sekä isolepinkäinen että västäräkki.

What’s even nicer was that both an Great grey shrike and a White wagtail were sitting in two nearby trees.

Oli mukava istahtaa penkille ja syödä eväät ja juoda kahvit ja nauttia upeista näköaloista.

It was nice to sit on the bench and eat snacks and drink coffee and enjoy the wonderful views.

Kuin kirsikaksi kakun päälle näin myös sääksen lentävän ja laskeutuvan kauempana olevan männyt latvaan.

As the cherry on the cake, I also saw an Osprey flying and landing on the top of a pine tree that was further away.

Sitten olikin jo aika lähteä kävelemään takaisin pitkospuita pitkin kohti parkkipaikkaa. Kun olin siinä avoimella suolla niin aivan viereen istahti sudenkorento.

Then it was already time to walk back along the duckboards towards the parking lot. When I was there in the open swamp, a dragonfly sat right next to me.

Jos sinulla on aikaa, niin käy kävelemässä lintutornilla ja ihaile upeita suo maastoja.

If you have time, go for a walk on the bird tower and admire the wonderful swamp landscapes.
