I went on a short photo trip to Lagoa at the Mexilhoeira da Carregacao pools.

Arade-joessa oli nousuvesi korkeimmillaan, mutta altaat olivat yllättävän kuivat. Todennäköisesti kuivuudesta johtuen paikalla oli poikkeuksellisen vähän lintuja.

The Arade River was at its highest tide, but the pools were surprisingly dry. Probably due to the drought, there were exceptionally few birds there.

28 Common redshanks stood in a neat group. Can you also spot an Eurasian whimbrel and a Dunlin in the picture?

Niiden vieressä oli 89 naurulokkia (yhteen kuvaan mahtuu vain osa lokeista).

Next to them were 89 Common gulls (only some of the gulls fit in one picture).

Mutta näiden takana tapahtui, altaan penkalla oli 10 kattohaikaraa, joista kaksi aloitti yhtäkkiä tanssia tai taistella keskenään.

But behind them, there were 10 White storks on the bank of the pond, two of which suddenly started dancing or fighting with each other.

Paikalla oli myös muutama merilokki altaalla (kuvassa keskellä naurulokkien ympäröimänä).

There were also a few Great black-backed gulls on the pond (in the picture in the middle surrounded by Common gulls).

And some of the Great black-backed gulls were swimming in the Arade River.

Havaitut linnut: 89 naurulokki, 28 punajalkaviklo, 11 pikkukuovi, 10 kattohaikara, 7 merilokki ja 1 suosirri.

Birds observed: 89 Common gull, 28 Common redshank, 11 Eurasian whimbrel, 10 White stork, 7 Great black-backed gull and 1 Dunlin.
