I compiled a summary of two days of visits to Nurmijärvi on April 20 and May 2, 2026. I visited the places marked with blue balls on the map and numbered.

20.4. Lepsämä, Jokipellontie (paikka kartalla 1 / place on the map 1)
I first visited on 20.4. at the small pond on Jokipellontie in Lepsämä and I must say that there was a good buzz going on.
Great tit, Common chiffchaff, Chaffinch and Yellowhammer were singing in the trees. A Great spotted woodpecker was calling somewhere a little further away and a couple of Carrion crows were flying over a nearby field. A Common crane landed somewhere behind the pond. The first to be seen on the pond were Whooper swans, who had clearly mated and were looking at the nest site.

There were Common goldeneyes and Mallards swimming here and there, as well as a couple of Eurasian Teals and a Coot. The Horned grebes that inhabit this pond are interesting to follow.

The Horned grebes were probably doing some kind of courtship dance as they stretched their necks and circled each other.
Hieman ennen poislähtöäni laulujoutsenet tulivat vielä samalle rannalle ja kurkistelivat kaislikon lomasta mitä ympärillä tapahtuu.
Shortly before I left, Whooper swans came to the same beach and peeked out from the reeds to see what was happening around.

Havainnot lammella (14 lajia): 5 sinisorsa, 4 mustakurkku-uikku, 4 sepelkyyhky, 4 telkkä, 4 varis, 2 laulujoutsen, 2 tavi, keltasirkku, korppi, kurki, käpytikka, nokikana, peippo, talitiainen, tiltaltti.
Observations at the pond (14 species): 5 Mallard, 4 Horned grebe, 4 Wood pigeon, 4 Common goldeneye, 4 Carrion crow, 2 Whooper swan, 2 Eurasian teal, Yellowhammer, Common raven, Common crane, Great spotted woodpecker, Eurasian coot, Common chaffinch, Great tit, and Common chiffchaff.
Täällä olin ehkä parikymmentä minuuttia.
I was here about 20 minutes.
20.4.2026 Lepsämä, Yli-Lepsämäntie (paikka kartalla 2 / place on the map 2)
From the pond I then drove to the Lepsämä floodplains along Yli-Lepsämäntie just after the center of Lepsämä, I used binoculars and saw an estimated 500 Bean geese in the field. It is good to note that at the end of last year, a species change was made for Bean goose. Previously, all were Bean goose and had the Tundra bean goose and Taiga bean goose as subspecies, but now the subspecies were raised as to their own species and the common Bean goose was left out of the species list. Read more here.

From a distance, looking through binoculars, it was impossible to tell which geese were there, but they were most probably Tundra bean geese.
Skylarks were singing in the field and Northern lapwings were flying around. There was also a tractor harrowing in the field, followed by a fair number of Common gulls and Western jackdaws.

A pair of Common goldeneyes were swimming in a nearby river. In the photo, the male is on the left with his white belly and on the right the female, which is quite dark.

Havainnot peltoaukealla (7 lajia): 500 metsähanhi/tundrametsähanhi, 27 kalalokki, 7 töyhtöhyyppä, 5 naakka, 2 kiuru, 2 laulujoutsen, 2 telkkä, västäräkki
Observations in the open field (7 species): 500 Bean goose/Tundra bean goose, 27 Common gull, 7 Nothern lapwing, 5 Western jackdaw, 2 Eurasien skylark, 2 Whooper swan, 2 Common goldeneye, White wagtail.
2.5.2026 Lähtelän ranta / Lähtelä beach (paikka kartalla 3 / place on the map 3)
2.5.2026 lähdin Klaukkalan Valkjärven Lähtelän rantaan ja siellä yli lensi muuttomatkalla olevat 32 valkoposkihanhea, pellon ympärillä läheisissä puissa lauloivat keltasirkku, talitintti, mustarastas ja fasaanikoiras upeassa puvussaan kävi pellon reunalla minua kurkistelemassa.
On May 2, 2026, I went to the Lähtelä beach of Lake Valkjärvi in Klaukkala and 32 Barnacle geese on their migration flew over there, an Yellowhammer, a Great tit, a Common blackbird and a Pheasant in its magnificent plumage came to the edge of the field to peek at me.

Rantaan päästyäni siellä uiskenteli silkkiuikkuja.
When I got to the shore, there were Great crested grebes swimming there.

Västäräkki juoksenteli laiturin vieressä.
The White wagtail was running next to the pier.
Lähtelässä havaitut (11 lajia): 32 valkoposkihanhi, 11 silkkiuikku, 4 sinisorsa, fasaani, keltasirkku, kiuru, mustarastas, sepelkyyhky, talitiainen, telkkä ja västäräkki.
Observed in Lähtelä (11 species): 32 Barnacle goose, 11 Great crested grebe, 4 Mallard, Pheasant, Yellowhammer, Eurasian skylark, Common blackbird, Common wood pigeon, Great tit, Common goldeneye and White wagtail.
Lähtelästä lähdin Perttulantietä kohti Nurmijärven keskustaa.
From Lähtelä I set off on Perttulantie towards the center of Nurmijärvi.
2.5.2026 Perttula, Uudenpellontie (paikka kartalla 4 / place on the map 4)
On the way, I had to stop when there was a flock of geese in a field. This time I was close enough to make out that it was a flock of Tundra bean goose.

Siinä vieressä lenteli myös yksi töyhtöhyyppä, todennäköisesti koiras, joka yritti tehdä vaikutuksen pellolla rauhallisesti kävelevään toiseen töyhtöhyyppään (todennäköisesti naaras). En tiedä onnistuiko yritys.
There was also a Northern lapwing flying nearby, probably a male, trying to impress another Northern lapwing (probably a female) calmly walking in the field. I don’t know if the attempt was successful.

Pari varista ajoi korppia takaa läheisen metsän reunassa.
A pair of Carrion crows were chasing a Raven at the edge of a nearby forest.
Perttulan pellolla havaitut (5 lajia): 190 tundrametsähanhi, 3 varis, 3 kiuru, 2 töyhtöhyyppä, 1 korppi.
Observed in the Perttula field (5 species): 190 Tundra bean goose, 3 Carrion crow, 3 Eurasian skylark, 2 Northern lapwing, a Raven.
Perttulan pelloilta ajelin sitten Nurmijärven kirkonkylän läpi Myllykoskelle.
From Lepsämä I drove through Nurmijärvi center to Myllykoski.
2.5.2026 Myllykoski (paikka kartalla 5 / place on the map 5)
If Lähtelä was a lakeside area, Lepsämä was a field area, then Myllykoski is a nature trail in the forest following the river. There is also a brochure about the area on the Nurmijärvi municipality website.

Myllykoskella lähdin parkkipaikalta Siippoontien varrelta kohti paikkaa numero 1. Tämä polku kulkee koivumetsän ja kuusimetsän halki, jossa sain ihailla peipon, laulurastaan, käpytikan, talitiaisen, hippiäisen, mustarastaan, räkättirastaanja punarinnan laulua.
At Myllykoski, I set off from the parking lot along Siippoontie towards site number 1 in the map. This path runs through a birch forest and a spruce forest, where I was able to admire the songs of Chaffinch, Song thrush, Great spotted woodpecker, Great tit, Goldcrest, Common blackbird, Fieldfare and an European robin.

After map point 2 I reached the river bank and turned towards map point 3. This route took me along the river bank and on the way I heard the song of a Wren and a Redwing. The wren was very close, but I didn’t see it and so I couldn’t get a photo of it.

I continued my journey from map point 3 onwards until I came to the lean-to. It was nice to eat snack and watch the White wagtail hop from one rock to another and occasionally fly up to a tree branch to sing.

On the way back between map points 2 and 4, I noticed movement on the riverbank on the other side of the river. First, there was one Common sandpiper, and after a while it was joined by another Common sandpiper. It must have been a couple.

Karttapisteen 5 lähellä oli useita kalastajia.
There were several fishermen near map point 5.
And when I walked under the highway and stopped on the old bridge to take a picture of the underpass towards map points 6-8, the landscape looked quite spectacular.

Myllykoskella havaitsemani linnut (17 lajia): 3 mustarastas, 3 punakylkirastas, 2 hippiäinen, 2 käpytikka, 2 punarinta, 2 rantasipi, kuusitiainen, laulurastas, peippo, peukaloinen, räkättirastas, sepelkyyhky, sinisorsa, sinitiainen, talitiainen, tikli ja vihervarpunen.
Birds I observed at Myllykoski (17 species): 3 Common blackbird, 3 Redwing, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Great spotted woodpecker, 2 European robin, 2 Common sandpiper, Coal tit, Song thrush, Common chaffinch, Wren, Fieldfare, Common wood pigeon, Mallard, Eurasian blue tit, Great tit, Goldfinch and Eurasian siskin.
Myllykosken kierrokselle vierähti noin 2 tuntia.
Walking around Myllykoski trail took me about 2 hours.
Lopputuloksena voin todeta, että Nurmijärvellä on monta mielenkiintoista lintujen havainnointipaikkaa, tervetuloa tutustumaan.
In conclusion, I can say that Nurmijärvi has many interesting bird watching spots, welcome to explore.
