Tämän vuoden ensimmäisenä päivänä golfkenttä Portimaossa eli Pestana Alto golf oli kiinni ja siellä oli mahdollisuus käydä kävelemässä. Huom! Golf kentälle ei voi oman turvallisuuden takia mennä kävelemään, jos kenttä on auki ja pelaajat kentällä.

On the first day of this year, the golf course in Portimao, Pestana Alto golf, was closed and there was an opportunity to walk. Note! For your own safety, you cannot walk on the golf course if the course is open and the players are on the course.

Päivä oli aurinkoinen ja kiertelin kentän molemmat puoliskot. Väylien 3 ja 4 välissä on mukava pieni lammikko, jossa näin pikku-uikun ja liejukanan sekä reunalla pyörivät turkinkyyhky, siniharakka ja mustaleppälintu.

The day was sunny and I walked around both sides of the course. There is a nice little pond between fairways 3 and 4, where I saw a Little grebe and a Common moorhen, and an Eurasian collared dove, an Iberian Magpie and a Black redstart circling the edge.

Ympärillä lenteli siniharakoita koko ajan, myös mustarastaita seikkaili pensaissa. Parissa puussa oli melkoinen sirkutus, kun siellä oli parvi tiklejä sekä parvi vahanokkia ja yksi varpunen.

There were Iberian magpies flying around all the time, and Common blackbirds were also roaming the bushes. There was quite a bit of chirping in a couple of trees, as there was a flock of European goldfinches, a flock of Common Waxbills and one House sparrow.

Keskelle väylää lennähti pari pikkulintua / A couple of little birds flew into the middle of the fairway:

Golf kentällä on mukava liikkua ja kuvata lintuja, sillä ne ovat hyvin tottuneet ympärillä liikkuviin ihmisiin eivätkä siksi ole liian arkoja.

It’s nice to move around and photograph birds on the golf course, as they are very used to people moving around and are therefore not too shy.

Kentän jälkimmäisellä puoliskolla on myös kiva pikku lammikko, jossa myös usein näkee pikku-uikkuja, tänään niitä ei näkynyt, mutta paikalle tulivat pronssi-ibis sekä silkkihaikara.

There is also a nice little pond in the second half of the course, where you can often see little grebes. Today I didn’t see them, but a Glossy ibis and a Little heron came to the site.

Aina kun kentällä käy pelaamassa niin väylän 16 lyontipaikan läheisyydessä on 3 ankkaa, näin myös tänään, joista yksi pääsi kuvaan / Whenever I go to play on the course, there are 3 ducks near the 16th tee on the fairway, including today, one of which was captured in the photo:

Oli taas mukava kiertää kenttä, tällä kertaa ilman mailoja, ja ihailla hienosti hoidettuja maisemia.

It was nice to tour the course again, this time without clubs, and admire the beautifully maintained landscapes.

Kaiken kaikkiaan tällä kertaa havainnoin seuraavat linnut: 8 tikli, 6 siniharakka, 5 vahanokka, 5 viherpeippo, 4 mustarastas, 3 vihervarpunen, 3 keltahemppo, 3 tiltaltti, 2 minervanpöllö, 2 mustaleppälintu, 2 varpunen, 2 käpytikka, turkinkyyhky, liejukana, etelänharmaalokki, pikku-uikku, pronssi-ibis, silkkihaikara, harjalintu, tuulihaukka, harakka, etelänpuukiipijä ja västäräkki.

In total this time I observed the following birds: 8 European goldfinch, 6 Iberian magpie, 5 Common Waxbill, 5 European greenfinch, 4 Common blackbird, 3 Eurasian siskin, 3 Serin, 3 Common chiffchaff, 2 Little owl, 2 Black redstart, 2 House sparrow, 2 Great spotted woodpecker, Eurasian collared dove, Common moorhen, Yellow-legged gull, Little grebe, Glossy ibis, Little egret, Eurasian hoopoe, Kestrel, Eurasian magpie, Short-toed treecreeper and White wagtail.
